KARACHI: Honorable Mr. Shahid Iqbal Baloch, Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), visited the PCSIR Laboratories Complex, Karachi (KLC) on October 7, 2025.
He was warmly welcomed by Dr. Hafiz Rub Nawaz, Director General, PCSIR Laboratories Complex Karachi, and Dr. Razia Sultana, Director (Planning & Development), with a bouquet of flowers and the traditional Ajrak. A commemorative shield was also presented to mark the esteemed visit.
During the visit, the Secretary chaired a meeting with the Heads of Centers, as well as Admin and Accounts Officers, in the presence of the Director General and Director (P&D). The Director General expressed sincere gratitude to the Secretary for taking time to visit PCSIR Karachi and extended appreciation for his continuous support to the organization.
The Director (P&D) gave a comprehensive presentation highlighting the objectives, achievements, ongoing R&D projects, and future plans of PCSIR Laboratories Complex Karachi.
Being an engineering and science professional, Mr. Shahid Iqbal Baloch took keen interest in several scientific projects and offered valuable suggestions for enhancing their impact and outreach. He also appreciated the research and development initiatives undertaken by PCSIR for the advancement of science, industry, and community welfare.
During the discussion, the Director General and Heads of Centers briefed the Secretary about the operational challenges and human resource requirements essential for the sustainability and growth of PCSIR. The Secretary acknowledged these concerns and emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening PCSIR and ensuring the long-term sustainability of all MoST organizations.
The visit concluded with a note of appreciation and renewed commitment to promote innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence in line with the national priorities of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
